For over five decades I have lived away from Thailand, carrying memories of my hometown that were mainly centred on the kitchen in my family home, a traditional teak house built one hundred years ago. It was in this kitchen that I helped my mother prepare meals and where my love of food began.

Exploring Nan with Duang was such an incredible experience. Preparing and cooking meals at Baan Ya, visiting the morning market for fresh vegetables, fish and coffee, and eating at local restaurants was immersive and delicious. Doing it all alongside Duang and her gorgeous team made it all the more special. If you love cooking, eating and getting well away from Thailand’s tourist trail, I would definitely recommend this trip.
